**Abbotsford, B.C.** – For the fourth consecutive season, the Abbotsford Canucks have secured a spot in the Calder Cup Playoffs, following their 6-3 victory over the San Diego Gulls. The victory marks Abbotsford’s 11th consecutive win, setting the record for the longest streak in the AHL this season! Abbotsford is the third team to clinch a playoff berth in the Pacific Division, joining the Colorado Eagles and Ontario Reign.

Abbotsford currently sits third in the Pacific Division with 81 points (39-23-2-1), just one point behind second-place Ontario. With seven games remaining, including four at home, the battle for home-ice advantage is heating up! 

The teams placing second, third, and fourth in the Pacific Division all receive home ice advantage in the opening round of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

**Abbotsford, B.C**. – The Abbotsford Canucks announced today that voting for the 2024.25 Player Awards is now open, giving fans the opportunity to cast their ballots and voice their opinions on which players are most deserving of each of these prestigious awards. 
 
The winners of the four awards will be announced during Fan Appreciation Night, presented by Traveland RV, on April 12th, when Abbotsford plays host to the Calgary Wranglers. The four awards that are open for fan voting are:
- Most Valuable Player 
- Fan Favourite 
- Unsung Hero 
- Rookie of the Year 

Online voting for the 2024.25 Player Awards is open now through **April 8th at 11:59pm**. Fans can vote [HERE](https://tradablebits.com/tb_app/521914 ). 

In addition to the four fan-voted awards, the team will announce the winner of the “Man of the Year” Award. This honour will be awarded to the Canuck who best exemplifies leadership, commitment and what it truly means to be a Canuck in the community. The Abbotsford Canucks made a quick stop in Bakersfield to take on the Condors, chasing their 10th straight win.

Artūrs Šilovs returned to the team following a stint in Vancouver and got the start in net against Brett Brochu at the other end.

The Canucks entered the game in a playoff-clinching situation, with a win bringing them one step closer to the post season. However, just 15 seconds after the puck dropped, the Condors gained possession and broke through the Canucks' defense. Seth Griffith walked in on Šilovs and put Bakersfield on the board early with a 1-0 lead.

Abbotsford responded with pressure, registering nine shots before the Condors could record another. Despite earning two power play opportunities, they were unable to find the back of the net before the first period ended, trailing 1-0 into the second.

With the pressure mounting, Abbotsford needed to turn the game around. The Condors received their first power play of the night, but the Canucks successfully killed the penalty and resumed even-strength play. Both goaltenders, Brochu and Šilovs, made key saves to keep their teams in the game. The Canucks held the Condors to just three shots on net in the second period, but neither team found the scoreboard, leaving Bakersfield with a 1-0 lead heading into the third.

Determined to get on the board, Abbotsford ramped up the intensity. Former Canuck Alex Kannok Leipert dropped the gloves with Chase Wouters, his former captain, in an attempt to energize the game. The move seemed to work for the Canucks, who soon found themselves on the power play. Just 30 seconds into the man advantage, Tristen Nielsen delivered the spark they needed. Navigating through traffic, he backhanded the puck into the net to tie the game at 1-1.

With momentum on their side, Abbotsford pushed forward. Another power play opportunity followed, but they couldn’t convert. However, with less than four minutes remaining, Arshdeep Bains set up Phil Di Giuseppe, who fired a wrist shot past Brochu to give the Canucks their first lead of the game. Up 2-1, the Canucks focused on closing out the game, holding the Condors to just three shots in the period. As time wound down, Bakersfield pulled their netminder for an extra attacker, but Abbotsford held strong until the final buzzer.

With a 2-1 victory, the Canucks secured their 10th consecutive win, setting a new franchise record and tying the league’s longest active win streak.

The team now heads to San Diego, looking to punch their ticket to the playoffs before returning home for their final four home games of the season.

The Abbotsford Canucks wrapped up their season series against the Laval Rocket in style, completing the sweep with a thrilling 4-3 win.

Less than 24 hours after a shootout battle, both teams rotated their goalies — Nikita Tolopilo got the nod for Abbotsford, while Connor Hughes started between the pipes for Laval.

Wasting no time, Abbotsford struck just 32 seconds into the game. Phil Di Giuseppe weaved his way through defenders, pulled Hughes out of position, and tucked the puck into an open net to open the scoring. The Canucks dominated the first period, piling on shots and controlling the pace. With under three minutes to go, Nate Smith spotted Cole McWard crashing the slot. McWard’s shot nearly crossed the line, but Tristen Nielsen cleaned it up, burying the rebound to make it 2-0. Abbotsford outshot Laval 17-5 and carried the lead — and a power play — into the second.

Momentum briefly shifted early in the second when the Canucks had to kill off a 5-on-3. Tolopilo and the penalty kill stood tall, but with just one second left on the kill, William Trudeau wired a shot from the circle that found twine, cutting the lead in half.

Back at even strength, Abbotsford reset. Ty Mueller restored the two-goal cushion, slipping a blind backhander through Hughes’ legs to make it 3-1. The Canucks held strong and entered the final frame with a two-goal edge.

Mueller wasn’t done. Just 51 seconds into the third, he picked up his second of the game — a low wrister through traffic that gave the Canucks a 4-1 lead. But Laval pushed back. After killing off another penalty, Jared Davidson found a gap in the defense and trimmed the lead to 4-2 with 12 minutes to play.

With time running out, Abbotsford drew a late penalty, but Laval pulled their goalie for a 6-on-4. Owen Beck made it count, scoring with 90 seconds left to pull within one. The Rocket pressed hard in the final minute, but the Canucks held their ground to seal the win.

With the 4-3 victory, Abbotsford swept the series and picked up their 13th straight win, securing home ice for the first round of the playoffs. The team will rest and regroup before facing the Calgary Wranglers in their final two home games of the regular season.

ABBOTSFORD SWEPT THE LAVAL ROCKET IN A 4-3 VICTORY

The Abbotsford Canucks returned home to kick off their final four regular-season games, hosting the Laval Rocket in what promised to be a high-intensity showdown. With Abbotsford riding a hot streak and Laval sitting atop the league standings, fans were treated to an intense battle.

Continuing their goaltender rotation, Artūrs Šilovs got the nod between the pipes for the Canucks, while Cayden Primeau started for Laval. Right from puck drop, both teams brought the heat — throwing hits, intercepting passes, and peppering the net with shots. Despite the action, neither side could break through in the first, thanks to stellar goaltending on both ends.

The deadlock didn’t last long. Just 53 seconds into the second period, Laval’s Laurent Dauphin buried a rebound to put the Rocket up 1-0. Abbotsford took a few trips to the penalty box, but their kill unit held strong. They also created several quality chances, but Primeau stood tall, keeping the Canucks off the scoreboard through two periods.

Early in the third, the Rocket doubled their lead after capitalizing on another loose puck in front of Šilovs. Down 2-0, Abbotsford needed a spark — and they got one. Danila Klimovich broke through, jamming a puck past Primeau to make it a one-goal game. Feeding off the momentum, the Canucks struck again minutes later. A slick passing sequence between Cole McWard and Ty Mueller set up Sammy Blais, who ripped it home to tie the game at 2.

Despite a flurry of chances in the final minutes, regulation ended with the teams deadlocked. Overtime brought more tension, but few chances, as neither team could find the game-winner.

Abbotsford Canucks

The Abbotsford Canucks closed out their road trip in San Diego, taking on the Gulls in search of their 11th consecutive win and a chance to punch their ticket to the postseason.

Nikita Tolopilo got the start in net for Abbotsford, facing Ville Husso at the other end. The Canucks came out strong, registering several early shots while keeping the Gulls off the board. Midway through the first period, Cooper Walker set up Dino Kambeitz in the slot, and Kambeitz buried the puck to give Abbotsford a 1-0 lead. The teams continued exchanging chances, with both goaltenders making key saves. However, with just minutes left in the period, Stian Solberg found the back of the net for the Gulls, sending the game into the first intermission tied 1-1.

San Diego seized momentum in the second period, pressuring the Canucks and limiting their scoring opportunities. Just over six minutes in, Judd Caulfield capitalized on a two-on-one rush, pulling the Gulls ahead 2-1. Abbotsford then found themselves on back-to-back penalty kills, struggling to generate offense. However, Ty Mueller broke through with a shorthanded goal, tying the game at 2 with five minutes remaining. The Gulls responded in the final seconds of the period, as former Canuck Justin Bailey scored on the power play, giving San Diego a 3-2 lead heading into the third.

With a playoff berth on the line, the Canucks came out flying in the final frame. Six minutes in, Tristen Nielsen found Kirill Kudryavtsev wide open with a cross-ice pass, and Kudryavtsev buried the puck to tie the game at 3. Less than a minute later, Akito Hirose fired a long shot from the blue line that found the back of the net, flipping the script and putting Abbotsford ahead 4-3. The Canucks weren’t done yet—just a few minutes later, Max Sasson picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and scored on a breakaway to extend the lead to two.

With five minutes remaining, the Gulls pulled their goalie in a last-ditch effort, but Arshdeep Bains won a foot race and sealed the game with an empty-net goal.

The Abbotsford Canucks secured a 6-3 victory, splitting their season series with San Diego and sweeping their road trip. Their 11th straight win is now the longest active streak in the AHL, and they’ve officially clinched a spot in the 2025 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The team now returns home to play their four final home games of the season.
